SlenderPet

SlenderPet

In the wild, animals will naturally eat what they need and no more. The task of searching for food and other basic necessities involves lots of exercise and so wild animals remain naturally fit and healthy.

The food available to them in their natural habitat is perfectly designed to meet their needs in an environment that has not been tampered with.

Domestic animals are provided with food which they do not have to hunt for and which is not always suited for their bodies. In addition, they are often exposed to a lifestyle which contributes to sluggish metabolism, underactive thyroids and livers which are not able to remove toxins or eliminate unwanted fat from their bodies.

Selective breeding programs have often further affected the ability of our pets to properly process the food that we give them and certain breeds are known to be more prone to obesity than others.

How can natural remedies help?
The first step in addressing obesity or weight problems in your pet is to examine lifestyle factors like diet and exercise.

The second is to determine whether other factors like boredom or even depression, hypothyroidism, diabetes or other endocrine disorders could be contributing to making your pet overweight.

Natural remedies can be very effective in restoring body functioning to process food efficiently. Improving thyroid and liver functioning, assisting digestive processes, boosting metabolism and enhancing the body's ability to process dietary fat will help to keep those extra pounds off your pet.

Herbal and homeopathic medicine can also help to improve all-round systemic functioning and restore health and vigor to depressed, lethargic and overweight pets.

Along with an improved diet and regular exercise, natural remedies can help your pet to lose weight naturally, enjoy a healthy life and prevent the multiple illnesses associated with obesity in pets.

“We know that we have to treat the whole animal in order to address the problem. We also have to be sensitive to pets who have become accustomed to associating “treats” with love and affection and find other ways to show our love towards them. Many people who “comfort eat” also inadvertently train their pets to do the same, with very unhealthy consequences, believing that they will be depriving their pets by withholding treats and junk food. Nothing could be further from the truth! Instead of offering that tidbit, caress your pet — you will both feel much better for it!” — Michele Carelse, Clinical Psychologist.

What are the ingredients of SlenderPet?
Fucus vesiculosis: is a sea vegetable that is a concentrated source of minerals, including iodine, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and iron. As a source of iodine, it assists in the production of thyroid hormones, which are necessary for maintaining healthy metabolism in all cells of the body. Regular use will also improve skin and coat condition. Curcuma longa: was used more than three thousand years ago by Indian healers to treat obesity. Modern research has shown that Curcuma has a beneficial effect on the liver, stimulating the flow of bile, which is responsible for the breakdown of dietary fat.

Sylibum marianus: (Milk Thistle) is regarded as one of the most important herbal liver tonics and restoratives and its use may be traced back more than 2000 years. Milk Thistle has been subject to many clinical trials which clearly demonstrate its effectiveness. It is frequently recommended to counteract the harmful effects of alcohol and other drugs on the liver and clinical studies have shown that it helps the liver to return to normal functioning. Scientific analysis of Milk Thistle shows that it contains a flavonoid complex called silymarin, which is largely responsible for the medical benefits of this herb. Silymarin is a powerful anti-oxidant and can block the entrance of toxins into the liver and remove toxins at cellular level, thereby resulting in regeneration of liver cells and improved liver functioning. As well as helping in any weightloss program, this would also have a direct impact on overall systemic health as the liver is one of the most important organs in the body.

Taraxacum officinalis: Dandelion contains bitter principles which have a beneficial effect on the liver and digestive system. Dandelion is also a rich source of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin A, D, C, various B Vitamins, iron, lecithin, silicon, potassium, magnesium, zinc and manganese. It enhances liver and gall bladder functioning and may decrease high blood pressure due to its diuretic properties.

Rice Powder: inactive ingredient.

How do we use SlenderPet?
SlenderPet comes in convenient capsule form. Capsules may be swallowed whole by larger dogs.

However, most owners find that it is easier and more convenient to open the capsule and mix the contents with wet food or a (low fat!) treat.

This prevents stress to both pet and owner! Cats, especially, hate to have medicine forced down their throats and will happily eat the dried herb when it is mixed with a little fish or meat.

Dosage:
Cats and small dogs: 1/2 capsule twice daily.
Medium dogs: One capsule twice daily.
Large dogs: One to two capsules twice daily.

Caution: Safety during pregnancy and nursing has not been established.

How long will a bottle last?
Depending on the size of your pet, one bottle of SlenderPet will last 15-60 days.

How long until we see results?
Results will vary depending on factors like diet, exercise as well as the health of your pet. We will not promise (like many companies do!) that your pet will lose weight overnight and still be able to eat an unhealthy diet and never have any exercise!

Where obesity is linked to problems like a sluggish thyroid or inadequate liver functioning, the condition of your pet should gradually improve and you should notice a glossier coat, more energy and a happier looking pet as time goes by.

Regular exercise and a healthy diet (see below) will further enhance your pet's health, as well as the effectiveness of SlenderPet.

What else can help?
According to many experts and followers of holistic health, the best diet for dogs and cats is a raw diet. Cooked food, pasteurized milk and other processed foodstuffs are thought to be damaging to the health of animals.

Studies, like the famous 10 year Pottenger Cat Study, have clearly demonstrated that raw meat (in the case of cats) and a combination of raw meat and raw vegetables (for dogs) is the only diet that will keep animals healthy and disease free generation after generation.

Everything in the anatomy of dogs and cats points to a raw meat-based diet as being what they were designed for. They have sharp teeth, highly concentrated digestive secretions to digest raw meat and short intestines.

Do not change diet suddenly, but slowly introduce fresh, raw and unprocessed food into your pet's daily diet, while reducing commercial foods and foods with little nutritious value.

Keep diet varied and interesting, but watch out for foods that your pet may be allergic to.

Regular exercise helps to build up a healthy appetite and gets all organs in the body functioning well. It also helps to relieve stress and contributes to a healthy happy pet!

SlenderPet may be alternated every week with our Detox Plus formula for pets who have toxin build up due to poor diet and environmental pollution.

If you suspect that your pet may have an underlying depression causing overeating and lethargy, our Grief and Pining Granules will help to restore a sense of well being without resorting to pharmaceutical drugs

Wound Dr.

Minor injuries in pets
Both dogs and cats often fall victim to minor cuts, scrapes, bites and stings — especially those with outdoor lifestyles and adventurous natures! Cuts and scrapes, abrasions, insect bites, fights with other animals — all can result in a miserable pet with consequent risk of infection. Like people, animals can also suffer from allergies and reactions to plants like Poison Ivy and Poison Oak. Most of these little injuries heal fairly quickly on their own and without long-term adverse effects, especially in healthy pets with strong immune systems. However, the immediate pain, discomfort and swelling can be unpleasant and debilitating for your pet and it is important to care for these wounds appropriately. Also, there may be a high risk of infection in otherwise minor wounds if they are not properly cared for.

How can natural remedies help?
Because of the risk of infection, pet wounds are often treated with antibiotics — taken internally or applied as a cream to the skin. They may also be treated with topical corticosteroid creams. While these can be effective in the short term, many holistic vets believe that they may also compromise your pet's health by affecting immune functioning. Topical antibiotic, corticosteroid and antiseptic creams are also often licked off by pets and can contain substances that may not be good for them to ingest.

Certain herbs and homeopathic ingredients are excellent for soothing pain and reducing swelling of wounds, bites, insect stings and other minor injuries and skin allergies. Gentle promotion of natural healing, as well as prevention of infection — without antibiotics — has been practiced by herbalists for thousands of years and can be of great benefit to your pet.

What are the ingredients of Wound Dr.?
PetAlive Wound Dr. contains the following 100% natural, herbal ingredients in an aqueous cream base:

Althaea officinalis root (marshmallow) is an excellent and well known remedy for soothing inflamed skin and mucus membranes and promoting healing. Marshmallow root is good for abscesses, boils and other skin conditions.

Melaleuca alternifolia is also known as Tea Tree Oil and is used externally for inflammation and to treat various skin conditions. This oil has excellent anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and healing properties. Tea Tree Oil will soothe and reduce inflammation of the skin as well as treat any bacterial or fungal infections.

Plantago lanceolata has long been considered a useful remedy for inflamed skin, burns, bites and small wounds. This herb has soothing and healing properties and acts as a mild astringent when used topically.

Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) is well-known as a topical pain reliever and antiseptic/disinfectant herb. Several of the compounds in rosemary have also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects.

Centella asiatica (Gotu Kola) is used topically to treat skin irritation and conditions. It also stimulates circulation and promotes skin healing.

Ledum 6X is a homeopathic remedy known to treat stings and bruises effectively as well as prevent infection of wounds.

Apis 30C is also used homeopathically for bee and wasp stings as well as any skin conditions causing swelling and itching. Burning pain and skin that is over-sensitive to the touch are relieved by Apis.

PetAlive Wound Dr. contains no gluten, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

How do I use Wound Dr.?
Wound Dr. cream comes in a 25 ml tube.

Directions: After cleansing, apply to affected area three times daily. Cleansing with PetAlive Clenzor is recommended.

Note: For external use only. Please consult your veterinarian should symptoms persist. May be used together with PetAlive Immunity and Liver Support for natural antibiotic action.

Caution: In the case of insect stings or contact with poison ivy, please seek medical treatment if there is any swelling of the mouth or tongue or if your pet appears to have any difficulty breathing.

How long until I see results?
Soothing effects will be immediate. With regular use over several days, condition of the skin will improve and healing of the wound will take place. Try and begin treating your pet as soon as possible as the sooner that cleansing and treatment begin, the quicker and more effective the healing process will be.

EasyTravel Solution

EasyTravel Solution

What causes travel or motion sickness?
Travel or motion sickness is caused by movement in different directions, particularly when the animal is sitting or standing still in a moving vehicle, boat or plane. It can also happen when there is a loss of visual contact with the outside horizon or due to pressure changes in the inner ear during air travel.

These events may cause confusion in the balance center of the inner ear, leading to fatigue, nausea, dizziness and even vomiting. It is not known why some animals are more prone to motion sickness than others. Many will gradually become accustomed to traveling and motion sickness will disappear after a few regular journeys.

While the majority of animals overcome motion sickness and learn to enjoy the journey, others continue to suffer the symptoms throughout their lives. This makes any journey traumatic for both the pet and the owner.

What are the ingredients of PetAlive EasyTravel Solution?
PetAlive EasyTravel Solution contains the following 100% herbal and homeopathic ingredients:

Zingiber officinalis (ginger) has a long history of medicinal use in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic (Indian) medicine. Modern research confirms its effectiveness in relieving the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, indigestion, flatulence and dizziness. Working mainly in the digestive tract, Zingiber boosts digestive fluids and neutralizes acids, making it an effective alternative to anti-nausea medication, but without the usual unpleasant side effects. Zingiber has strong anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties and is also used to treat arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.

Mentha piperita (Mint) one of the most effective of the mint herbs, has been used for centuries to relieve indigestion, nausea and heartburn. Modern research has demonstrated its effectiveness in soothing the symptoms of Diverticulosis, IBS and other digestive disorders. Mentha piperita is widely cultivated for medicinal uses and also has anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties. It relaxes the muscles of the digestive tract and stimulates the flow of natural digestive juices and bile, thereby assisting healthy digestion.

Kalium phosphate (Kali. phos.) is a biochemic tissue salt which is very effective in the treatment of anxiety and stress and is often referred to as a natural tranquilizer. It has many benefits, among them the relief of a “nervous stomach”.

Aconite C30: A homeopathic remedy which is often used to treat conditions of shock and anxiety. It is also prescribed for otherwise healthy pets, that develop a sudden illness of acute nature, often accompanied by fear, anxiety and panic attacks.

Cocculus C30: is a homeopathic remedy well known for its ability to relieve travel sickness, vertigo, nausea and vomiting.

Pulsatilla vulgaris C6: is used in the treatment of nausea and vomiting and also helps to calm and soothe the sufferer of travel sickness, particularly when there is an aversion to the enclosed space and a need for fresh air.

What is Lyme Disease and what are the symptoms?
Lyme disease is an infectious tick-borne disease that mainly affects dogs, although it is not unknown in cats and other animals. It is caused by a type of bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi.

Studies suggest however that only about 10 percent of animals exposed will actually contract the disease and the severity of the disease appears to vary with the animal's age and the strength of their immune system.

Arthritis may develop in the short to long term and a few dogs develop severe progressive renal disease, which often leads to death.

The most common initial symptoms of Lyme disease include:

* Fever
* Joint Swelling
* Lameness
* Lethargy

What is the conventional treatment?
The conventional treatment of Lyme disease usually involves antibiotics (usually for a period of between 14 to 30 days, but sometimes extended antibiotic use is recommended). In fact, a notable symptom of Lyme disease is that it does usually respond to appropriate antibiotics.

However antibiotics have a general weakening effect on the immune system which can cause further problems, especially in the long-term.

Topical insecticides that repel ticks and vaccination against Lyme disease are also often recommended. However these can lead to excess toxin build-up and cause further weakening of the immune system in the long term.

How can natural remedies help?
As part of a holistic approach to treating your pet, natural remedies can help to build and strengthen your pet's immune system (a very important factor in Lyme disease), encourage the elimination of toxins and generally improve the overall health of your animal.

Natural remedies can also help to relieve specific symptoms associated with Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses such as liver problems, infection, inflammation and fever.

Used in conjunction with conventional treatment they can support and strengthen your pet's immune system and lessen the toxic effects of medication.

What are the ingredients of TF-Defense?
PetAlive TF-Defense contains the following 100% herbal and homeopathic ingredients:

Carduus marianus (Milk Thistle) is regarded as one of the most important herbal liver tonics and restoratives. Medical use of Milk Thistle may be traced back more than 2000 years. More recently, Milk Thistle has been subject to many clinical trials which clearly demonstrate its effectiveness. Scientific analysis of Milk Thistle shows that it contains a flavonoid complex called silymarin, which is largely responsible for the medical benefits of this herb. Silymarin is a powerful anti-oxidant and can block the entrance of toxins into the liver and remove toxins at the cellular level, thereby resulting in regeneration of liver cells and improved liver functioning. This would have a direct impact on overall systemic health as the liver is one of the most important organs in the body and is often affected by Lyme Disease which leads to further weakening of the system.

Crotalus hor. (C200) is a proven homeopathic remedy which is very effective for the treatment of any illness that includes hemorrhage as well as severe septic infections, especially when there is a breakdown of red blood cells (leading to severe strain on the liver and possible jaundice.)

China (C6) is a homeopathic remedy well known for its beneficial effect on fever and exhaustion, especially following illness or severe fluid loss. It is also a very effective remedy for malaria.

Ferrum Phosphate C6 (Ferrum Phos.) is one of the most important biochemic tissue salts to use when there is any infection or inflammation in the body. It helps to distribute iron and oxygen throughout the body, strengthen cell walls and fight infection.

Aconite (C6) A homeopathic remedy which is often used to treat conditions of shock and anxiety. It is also prescribed for otherwise healthy pets who develop a sudden illness of acute nature, often accompanied by fever, fear, anxiety and panic attacks.

Lactose: inactive ingredient.
PetAlive TF-Defense contains no gluten, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

How do we use TF-Defense?
PetAlive TF-Defense comes in convenient dissolvable granule form. The tiny granules are easy to administer to pets of all sizes and personalities and are simply sprinkled on the back of the tongue and left to dissolve. No fuss and bother!

Cats and very small dogs: Large pinch of granules sprinkled into the mouth.
Small to medium dogs: Half fill inner circle of lid and sprinkle into mouth.
Medium to large dogs: Fill inner circle of lid and sprinkle into mouth.

Acute Illness: Administer every hour for up to 10 doses or until symptoms subside. Thereafter administer three times daily for approximately 7-10 days.

Chronic Tick-borne illness: Tick-borne illness, especially Lyme Disease often becomes chronic and may persist for months and even years. Continued treatment would be symptomatic and also supportive of immune system functioning.

In the case of chronic illness, we strongly recommend PetAlive Immunity and Liver Support, PetAlive Energy Tonic and PetAlive Muscle and Joint Support, depending on your pet's specific needs.

Note: Please consult your homeopathic or holistic vet for proper diagnosis if you suspect Lyme Disease or other tick-borne infection. Home treatment of these serious illnesses is not recommended.

How long until we see results?
In the case of acute illness, the use of TF-Defense often results in rapid results within a few hours or days.

Treatment should be continued for 7 days after the disappearance of the acute stage of the illness. This can be followed by supportive treatment with Immunity and Liver Support capsules as well as other remedies like Energy Tonic or Muscle and Joint Support capsules, depending on your pet's needs.

How long does one bottle last?
One bottle of TF-Defense will last for 15-30 days, depending on the size and needs of your pet.

What else can I do to help my pet?
Prevention is better than cure. Check your pets carefully and regularly for ticks especially after they have been walking in potentially tick-infested areas such as long grass.

Toxins and chemicals can have a general weakening effect on your pet's immune system so avoid exposure to them as far as possible. These include pesticides, herbicides, commercial flea collars, flea powder, insecticides and second-hand cigarette smoke.

The liver is often affected by Lyme disease. Ask your veterinarian to explain the side effects all medications that are prescribed for your dog. If there is a chance of liver damage then find out if there is an alternative medication or if not, what you can do to minimize the effects of liver damage.

Ensure your pet is eating a balanced, high quality diet with plenty of raw and unprocessed food (preferably organic). The liver is involved in getting rid of toxins in the body so the less chemical additives and preservatives in your pet's diet, the more his liver's workload decreases.

Acupressure massage is helpful in improving immune functioning.

Use Immunity and Liver Support capsules to boost your pet's immune functioning and resistance against disease and infection.

Vaccination is often recommended for the prevention of Lyme disease. However talk to a holistic vet before immunizing your pet as over-vaccination may stress the immune system unnecessarily.

I-Clenz

I-Clenz

What are tear stains?
Tear stains are reddish/brownish marks found on the inside corner and just below the eyes of pets. These are most often found on animals with light-colored fur as this makes them more visible. Tear stains are caused by an overflow of tears which then react with normal bacteria found on the skin to produce the darkened color. Red Yeast is a common culprit in producing tear stains as this organism — like most fungi — thrives in the warm and damp environment just below your pet's eyes.

Although tear stains do not generally pose any serious health risk, in some cases they may be associated with bacterial or yeast infections and are also unsightly and particularly undesirable in show dogs.

What are the ingredients in i-Clenz?
PetAlive i-Clenz contains the following 100% natural, herbal ingredients:

Euphrasia officinalis (Eyebright) has been used since the Middle Ages to reduce eye inflammations like conjunctivitis and sties. Eyebright will reduce redness and any inflammation associated with eye infection, as well as excessive discharge from the eye. It is also excellent for treatment of eye fatigue and other disturbances of vision.

Taraxacum officinale (Dandelion) is a well-known and effective herbal cleanser found all over the world. This herb will also act as an antibacterial and antifungal agent to prevent infection of the eye and fungal overgrowth contributing to tear stains.

Matricaria recutita (German Chamomile) was regarded as one of the nine sacred herbs given to the world by ancient Anglo-Saxons. In modern times it is widely used as a gentle cleansing, anti-inflammatory and soothing herb. Chamomile is also an effective tonic for the eye and surrounding area.

PetAlive i-Clenz contains no gluten, artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.

How do I use i-Clenz?
PetAlive i-Clenz comes in a convenient tincture form which should be applied to a clean damp cotton swab and gently wiped over the fur below the eyes when cleansing is necessary. A weaker solution may be used to cleanse the eye area itself. Add two or three drops to about 25 ml of warm water and apply with cotton swab. Use a new swab for each eye.

Caution: For external use only. Do not apply drops directly into the eyes.

How long until I see results?
Cleansing effects will be immediate. With regular use over several weeks, health and condition of the eyes will improve.

How long does one bottle last?
One 50 ml bottle of i-Clenz will last for 15-60 days with daily use, depending on the size and needs of your pet.

About your pet's paws and pads
Your dog or cat may often walk over rocks, soil, thorns and snow, even if confined to your yard. Unlike us humans, our pets don't have foot-protection in the form of shoes and although their paws and paw-pads are much tougher than our feet, they do sometimes suffer from cuts, wounds, bruising, cracks and even burns. You should check and care for your pets' paws regularly to treat any injuries and prevent infections.

What are the ingredients of PawPaw?
PetAlive PawPaw contains the following 100% natural, herbal ingredients extracted in a base of medicinal olive oil:

Hypericum perforatum is also called St. John's Wort and is commonly used as an internal remedy for treating depression and other ailments. Applied topically, as it has been in ancient European folk tradition, Hypericum perforatum heals and soothes all types of superficial wounds as well as burns.

Parasite Dr.

Parasite Dr.

How do I know if my pet has worms?
Cats: A number of intestinal parasites will produce no visible symptoms in your cat at all — or at least not at first. Other parasites such as the tapeworm will usually be visible in your cat's feces and in the hair or on the skin around his anus.

Other symptoms of worms in cats may include:

* Vomiting
* Persistent dry cough
* Swollen abdomen
* Anemia
* Diarrhea
* Persistent scratching around the anus
* Weight loss
* Eating a great deal without putting on weight
* Breathing problems
* Bad breath

Dogs: In many cases you may not even know that your dog has worms without having a sample of his feces analyzed. Certain intestinal parasites such as tapeworm however are usually clearly visible either clinging to the skin or hair around the dog's anus or in a fresh feces.

Other symptoms of worms in dogs may include:

* Weight loss
* Gastrointestinal disturbances
* Diarrhea
* Anemia
* Scratching, particularly around the base of the tail
* Vomiting
* Mild to severe coughing
* Eating a great deal without putting on weight
* Bad breath

What are the consequences of not treating internal parasites?
In some cases, apart from slight irritation, your pet may not be too concerned about a mild worm infestation.

However a number of internal parasites can be life threatening, particularly in large numbers. Some pets may even develop a hypersensitivity to worms, which can cause serious complications.

If you are concerned about your pet's symptoms consult a holistic vet for advice before resorting to over-the-counter remedies.

How are worms usually treated?
When it comes to getting rid of worms many people head straight for over-the-counter treatments, many of which are excessively harsh and often less than effective. Some may even be harmful in the long run.

What is Heartworm?
Heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) is a parasitic worm which infects mostly dogs. However, more vets are realizing that cats may also be infected with heartworm. Although all internal parasites can be harmful to the health of your pet, heartworm infestation is serious and can be fatal unless treated in time.

How can natural remedies help?
When it comes to your pet's health, natural remedies are usually a good place to start.

Although a number of conventional de-worming treatments are very effective, most, if not all, are chemically-based and may be harmful to your pet in the long-term. Continual de-worming with conventional products may also weaken your pet's immune system.

Holistic practitioners recognize that the whole animal should be treated to maximize health and reduce imbalance in the system caused by a variety of environmental and dietary stresses.

A combination of natural medicine, healthy diet and regular exercise will help to protect your pet against parasitic infection.

What are the ingredients of Parasite Dr.?

Azadirachta indica: (Neem) This tree is highly prized for making furniture as the wood is worm resistant. For the same reason, it is a highly prized Ayurvedic medicine. It has anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties and helps to expel worms and cleanse the system. Neem is also used to treat malaria.

Ruta graveolens: (also known as the Herb of Grace) Rue has been used for centuries for a variety of medicinal purposes, including high blood pressure, rheumatism, arthritis, epilepsy, asthma and cramps. It is included in our Parasite protector capsules for its ability to expel intestinal worms.

Rice powder: Inactive ingredient.
